I could talk about dance allll day. Both my parents are dancers, my mom teaches Afro-Haitian at a university, and my dad and her used to have a company when I was little, so I grew up at dance classes and rehearsals. Now I do Hip Hop and a lot of Brazilian Samba. Hooray for all you dancers!

I've been dancing for almost 12 years now. Modern, contemporary, lyrical and jazz is what I focus on. I've done hip hop but frankly, I suck at it. I really want to try belly too.
Last summer I did this internship in my city about 30 people auditioned and 10 got in, I was one of the 10. We danced everyday for 4 weeks (no every weekend though, just some saturdays) from 9 AM to around 4 PM, did 3 or 4 shows and made costumes. Also, for this whole amazing experience, I got paid $400

I used to do contemporary jazz when I was in high school. now I'm just starting to learn pole dancing for fitness. It's fun but a bit harder than how I expected it to be. it's got a lot to do with core and upper body strength.

Dancing is my life. Haha. I dance like a professional when the genres are sexy and hiphop. But I love sexy dances the most, but I'm not sexy. Hahaha. :)) I don't do well when it comes to dances that require a partner. I don't know why. ^^ Oh, and I have a background in ballet. I really want to have a solo dance performance, but I don't get a chance to have one. I want to learn ballroom and jazz. Someone! Please teach me. :)) Oh, and it's my dream to be a pro dancer. :D

I've been doing beginner classes in jazz, musical theatre, ballet and hiphop. I REALLY enjoy it! I always feel really lively at the end, even though I'm physically exhausted. and it's also a really good way to come across new music. I've found it's helped my concentration, has toned my legs and abs, and i'm always much happier after a dance session. Really wish I had more time to do it regularly!

I did it for 3 years and hated it. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful sport and can be used to express yourself in a creative way. But it was just boring for me I guess. Probably wasn't a good idea for me to go from a competitive all-star cheerleading team that practiced 4 times a week and competed almost every weekend to a dance class that practiced once a week and competed about twice a year O.o Haha. Also probably didn't help that everyone in my dance studio was snobby and pretty much hated me...so I don't think I had a good experience dancing. But it's still a great sport, it's just not for me. Now I just dance in my pjs to weird music in my living room.

Right now I dance lyrical and contemporary the most, however i also enjoy ballet, hip-hop, jazz, musical theater and others. I also like dancing my country's (Mexico) typical dance, inside of this folklore, each state has their own style. But I have to say that my favorite dance style out of all is flamenco, Spain's typical dance.

I've been studying dance on and off since I was about 4 years old. I've dabbled in ballet, tap, jazz, african, modern, pretty much everything. Throughout high school I even did some choreographer. I think dance is what you make it and after several years of just learning, I feel that it is a truly expressive form of art, and the more free and emotionally attached you are, the better you become.

make sure to stretch them every day. sit in them on left, right, and middle for at least a minute each. don't force it down, otherwise you could easily pull something, which would make them worse. like Alexandra said, just take it slow, and you'll get 'em.

I'd love to start house dancing again. The genre of music speaks to me and so does the dance, it fascinates me and just feels right! Either you have the house feel or you don't. I love how there are so many basic steps, while you are the one responsible for letting your creativity shine through, make it flow and take the dance to another (your own) level.

I can totally watch and appreciate all styles of dance, just some more then others. Contemporary and improvisation are my strongest style of dance and i'm not too bad at street/ hip-hop.

My two worst dancing experiences (so far at least), is being dropped on my head a couple of times. And during a tech rehearsal we had to do this lift on top of a metal table. I don't have a clue what happened but this guy was meant to grab my legs but didn't ...so i fell and my right leg hit the side of this mental table we were standing on leaving me with a mahoooooosive bruise on the side of my leg, it was vile and also very painful. Best bruise i've had yet though !!

I couldn't live without dance.

Urban Hip hop and Latin Ballroom.. Dance is my PASSION BABY.. I go crazy! ( Ive done other style's though.. I love every kind)

My worst experience was a reginal hip hop comp and I was in at the time with a crew, and we were terribly lazy, dysfunctional and didnt even have a proper set when it came to the day.. plus one of my members picked her nose ON STAGE! It was so horrible..
Or one time I was performing a salsa and I stood not knowing my skirt was tucked into my tights.. :(

The best was just this one audition where I did Popping. I don't know why, I was just in the element.. It was perfect.. Everyone was going crazy and I felt so loved and accepted haha..

Or when I won George Nichols dance cup.. that was amazing. :)

i have had 2 years of hiphop classes.
1 year of jazz
1 year of street latin - 2 examinations completed: bronze medal and bronze bar.
I love love love hiphop, its my main genre.
I started jazz for the formal training since i want to do a musical theatre course at uni once i finish high school.
Dance always makes me smile, its jsut this thing you can throw your whole body into and be completely happy. And then when you get to the concert at the end of the year, i find i am a different person on stage. The thrill, the excitement and the happiness is all there is this beautiful form.

I think that dancing is a way of expressing ones self. I breakdance and when I do some of the moves, it feels good. I do it to impress myself, and to express myself.

Decided to do Modern this semester. It fucked with my back early on (blah blah yeah I know, Horton technique is supposed to strengthen the back), so I haven't been able to do any jumps for fear of collapsing in pain. But I'm loving it, I especially love choreographing exercises.

I got to see Ballet Hispanico recently— THEY'RE AMAZING. They performed this piece:

which is pretty much one of the best things I've ever seen.

Dance is my passion but I started the real intensive training for ballet about 5 years ago and jazz for about a year now. The energy of being able to do something to do something creative and expressive at the same time is amazing :)

I do dance, it's sort of freestyle street styled, I love it because you can add any style of dance to it!

Breakdancing is fun because it's a good workout and a way to express yourself.
