Chbosky is apparently directing it, so I have high expectations.
And the actors and actresses listed on IMDB are suggested by website visitors so I still believe the rumor that Emma Watson will play Sam.

I just want to hear what everyone's expectations are. I think that it's not very good to have a movie with narration, since I prefer when movies are developed through images and dialogue, but I don't know how else Chbosky intends to tell the story.

So generally, yay or nay?

I say yay. :3

I don't know how it'll turn out, but I really hope Emma is playing Sam not only because I love her, but because they are filming it in Pittsburgh (where I live) and I'm hoping I'll get to see her :D <3

I don't think it should be adapted into a film, at all! I really love the novel... I just don't see how a film could live up to the novel.

I'm going to watch it with my best friend, nonetheless. I'm hoping it proves my thoughts wrong!

I haven't read the book, but I'm very curious, mostly because Emma Watson is playing in the film.

It prolly won't be as good as the book, movies never are, but I'm still super excited about this and will prolly see it the day it comes out. I'm not sure how I feel about Emma Watson though, I like her but, when I think of Sam I think of someone much different, especially compaired to the guy who is playing Charlie.
But Stephen Chbosky is directing it, so I'm guessing he had some pick in people to play eveyone, and if he feels that she is perfets then I'm sure she will be.

Uhg, iI really dont like that book. The fact that it's being compared to The Catcher In the Rye bothers me. I really dont like books about quirky people where it turns out they were molested/raped/abused/something else bad in their childhood. It kills all of the relatability. You dont need to have been traumatized to be different. It makes it seem as if being different is wrong. I dont know, i mean the writting was nice I suppose. That part just really bothered me.

@Rozzi R.

And the fact that a teacher gave it to me because he thought i could relate to it so well made me mad. Like thanks, I guess I'm so weird i must've been traumatized. I loved Catcher in the Rye so so much, but this book just didnt do anything for me.

I love the fact that Emma Watson will be playing Sam! I don't know what it is about Emma, but she can play so many different kind of characters.

I suggest reading the book! It's written very simply and for me it was solely a pleasure read :) It's just a nice story and there are a few funny parts. I found it very easy to get through especially since it was such a quick read.

I'm a little too excited for this film tbh haha. I'm looking forward to how it turns out. However, I'm not looking forward to seeing Logan playing Charlie... He's not how I imagined Charlie at all and I don't really like his acting but oh well! I'm sure it'll be good, especially if Miss Watson's in it! (:

I REALLY hope that is true, because if that is the real cast then I probably won't be watching it. I loved the book, and I am (or was depending on who is actually starring in the movie) excited to see the movie. Paul Rudd always plays the same role of course people would suggest him for this.. Nina Dobrev was in Degrassi for christ sake, and some vampire show. When I read the book I didn't imagine Candace as the teen mom from Degrassi. I only recognize Logan because my 11 year old brother was obsessed with that "Lightning Thief" movie. I don't care for a lot of the main actors besides Emma, they really aren't fit for their roles. Might as well add Michael Cera, Emma Stone, Drake, and McLovin in this.

Nobody wants to see a film adaptation of a book they really like. I remember the rumours about the Twilight guy, Justin Bieber and Joe Jonas all being in the running to play Holden in a film of Catcher, which made me feel a bit sick. I still hope that film never gets made.

I liked the book when I read it, so I don't think I'd want to see the film.

I don't want to see it because I already have an image of who Charlie's character is and his personality and I'm afraid that kid who's gonna play him is going to butcher it.
