I adore poetry.

I'd love to share, and hear your poems.

I've never had to chance to really read many poems, other than GCSE English which is more work than reading for pleasure! I wish I could hear more and Illiana, you're very talented! I would never in a million years be able to write like that

Your first? It sounds like you're very experienced at writing to me. Then again, like I said I don't know much about poetry but yours is the first I've read in about 3 years aha :) and it was very good!

i'm in love with poetry too. i don't know the styles and lingos but i write what comes.

sacrifice some

Dreams are more vivid the less you sleep,
like smiles are much wider once you finally eat,
Joy is much contagious after a wife newly widowed,
And love is much more simple after we're done dancing in the middle.

I adore poetry, I've been writing for years but not too seriously. I'm a sucker for anything that rhymes! Some of the stuff written on here is beautiful by the way! Heres just a little something I did a while back.

Waterfall

And I'm the waterfall.
Let your hurt and shame,
Wash over me.
Let your abuse and pain,
Roll over me.
Paint on the wall,
I am the waterfall.

Let's sit and spot the nearest rain cloud,
We're such rebels, such radicals we are,
Only the boldest would hold my diminishing hand,
Oh, yes, I should have known your strength by such a poise but fading stance,
But I can't say it's not familiar,
I'd start at your knees though commonly considered,
I could break down your middle until you're nearly eye level,
See, I'm only lying, waiting for rain,
Oh how I wish you knew it were coming.

Human Nature

Why did you come here this night?
Sweat on the sheets and a taste on my tongue
You’ll probably leave at the break of daylight
And come back tomorrow, the pendulum swung

You took nothing beyond my sherry and skin
You said it’s our nature to wallow in sin

You’ve loved another, many more
Is that human nature too?
All to bits and shreds you tore
Human nature to pursue

I just found out this one will be published:

Egyptian Love Song

My fingers flutter,
like lightning bugs on a trapeze
My mossy eyes open and crystallize
like a constellation,
sparkling into the east
My black scarab heart, hard shell
shining like moonlight,
waxing and waning
My lips tickle,
wings dusting past them and flying
Into the night
perching upon those constellations
holding up the moon

this is probably one of my least favourite poems I've written. I feel like I have better stuff but am still honoured that it will be published!!

Ojos abiertos
se cierran al paso de los segundos
profundo sueño
reflejado de experiencias y hechos

Castillo antiguo
pies cortados
tinta,papeles y fotos
espejo en fragmentos
rosado por recuerdos

Ausente en la ciudad
vida sin voluntad
ausente en mis brazos
sin caricias regalar
ausente en mis labios
sin lagrimas limpiar

La luna perdio su brillo
contigo solia observar
te besaba bajo la lluvia
en aquella cama soliamos despertar

Partituras vacias
Notas mudas
¡Odisea Digna!
ya no suena aquella
aquella cancion
que llenaba nuestros oidos
unia nuestros cuerpos
y juntaba nuestros labios

Sin nuestras bocas emitir
vibracion alguna
nuestros ojos fijados
expresaban dulzura

Nuestro lazo me daba la vida
dentro de la noche estas
ahora mis ojos se cierran
el cordon se corta
mi alma en el purgatorio
sobre ese escritorio
aquella foto,sobre el escritorio
nuestros rostros en ella reflejados
su sangre y color permanecera

Pelsall

A winding way I took one eve
where Clydesdale horses grazed, enchained,
and as I 'proached I begged their leave
to remain there entertained.

The sun was failing in the west,
and fires were cast upon the trees
which crowded round the meadow, pressed
'gainst winds of fragrant potpourri,

as I, enchanted by this scene,
took it upon myself to nest
amongst the heath and stock unseen,
a silent, contemplative guest.

How simple sights astounded me!
For I had never seen a foal,
nor felt such peace to such degree,
as came upon me on this stroll.

And low the sun sank from the sky,
and twilight floated 'cross the mead
as I remained there, mesmerised,
among the heath and stock and weed.

Necrology

As crag stands tall and firm at sea
heart beats still, yet loving lame
Love's life drunk like virtue drained.
Tremors quake and Banshees shriek
last vestige of strength they conspire to maim
and in their midst Demons resume their refrain,
for still I wait
and wait, in vain

Gentle acquiescence given to thee
contracts drawn as whispers utter names
longing, ever longing, in desperation I remain.
And in that desperate, abhorrent plea
my plight, strong as ever, is the same
and I cry, and I beg, and I whimper in my pain
yet still I wait
and wait, in vain.

*this one still seems unfinished to me, but try as I may I can't seem to continue it.

Nap Thoughts

It is afternoon and the couch holds my contented weight.
I reach upwards, my fingers are twigs:
They bud.
Growing swift and quiet like an infant,
Like a sprout.

Past the gilded picture frames
Within which there is no decay and real life is
Made pretty and forever,
Past the languid strings of blue smoke, past the
Spiders and the air they breathe

Until they reach the dusty upside-down world
Where some day I will play;
In a dream or elsewhere in the Universe.
Drowsiness blankets me
And a yawn splits my mouth agape.

I am like the hippopotami
Who sometimes rise to stretch their jaws
Up, up from the brown-gold gloom
Of their murky living rooms.

I am.
A girl pulling pebbles from her pocket,
as honeysuckles press to the grassy sands,
skipping stone to the river bed,
with these wasted hands.

Foliage of the woodland,
changes slower than my will.
Honey oak blends by earthly moss,
digging a grave for the ant hill.

In the forest of my uneven parts,
the benign heart turns to hair,
I am the blame of my lover,
to become dust without care.

Birds and branches anchor my braids,
As sea gloom plucks my core,
Once, there was cherry wood on the table.
Now, I'm back to the sheltered shore.

I pack my traveling clothes,
and I call to the mourning mountain.
It is time for me to go.
