so who's your favourite illustrator. i have a fascination with everything from book illustrations to fashion illustrations. But my favourite is Edward Gorey

I love his illustrations so much! This great mixture of japanese ink drawings and xylographs (is it the right word?). Just awesome.

I never realized how much of an influence he had on me until I revisited the books I loved as a kid and realized like half of them were illustrated by him.

hmm... personally I kinda dig minimalist illustrators (probably because it's more along the lines of what I do..or vice versa) but when I feel like stunning "drop jaw and gaze for a long time" stuff, I really like Gabriel Ba (and yes of course I love Gibbon's work, but everyone's already said that, so I thought I'd bring something new)

If I am talking strictly illustrators than I would say... James Jean (I am amazed no one mentioned him yet), Tomer Hanuka, Zhou Fan for the modern illustrators

I looove Yamamoto too! Such amazingly detailed and erotic drawings.
Also Ralph Steadman, although he's already been mentinoed.
Otherwise, I love cartoonist-illustrators like Chris Ware and Ivan Brunetti.

I used to love Jhonen Vasquez in high school! Haha how funny you'd mention him. He's great! I loved the Invader Zim show and the JTHM comics... mostly for all the mini comics at the end. So sarcastic and depressing.
