No. It's based of a Mayan prediction, and the Mayan calender ends in 2012, but it's believed that the Mayan calender works in cycles and this is just the end of one cycle.

The real Mayan prediction was that 2012 will be a year of great trial and struggle for the human race, not the end of the world. And if mankind can overcome this year of trials, we will prosper as a race and then have like, a thousand good years or something like that. It's supposed to be a time for great spiritual transition.

So no, I don't believe the world will end in 2012.

There's also loads of other theories like planet x, solar flares etc. etc.

I don't believe it either, it's like the millenium bug all over again!

I don't believe it, but I think it's entirely possible. I'm not worried about it. I'm sure on that day and the week before everybody will be going crazy. I can see a large increase in crime. If anything it will be the end of the world for some people because they'll believe the world will end that day so badly that they'll kill themselves or someone else will kill them thinking "well if the worlds gunna end I may as well just kill some people".

so if you have anything to worry about, it's the crazy people in this world

its a load of bull, a presenter for the BBC went to the mayans and asked them about it and no one had ever heard of the prediction! and the mayans have a 2013 calendar, their 2012 calendar just ends early. and wasn't the world to end about 5 times before now?

I don't really believe there's enough evidence, but there's a part of me that wants it to end so that everyone who doesn't believe in it gets their ass handed to them. :-) But again, it's not logical that it will happen, nor are the Mayan calendars any actual source of true support.

It is going to be the End of the World as We Know It.

We are leaving the era of the Fifth Sun and entering that of the Sixth Sun. The planets will align for the first time in 26,000 years and our understanding of reality might be permanently altered by something beyond our current level of understanding.

2012 can be what ever you make it, this might be the only chance for humanity to shed the what ills & ails us.....if we are not killed by nuclear weapons, a global pandemic or extra terrestrials who might be pissed off of our handling of the planet.

The alignment might however cause some geological disruptions including earthquakes and tsnuamis, due to the magnetic field within the solar system being affected by every planet lining up with the sun.

Politically 2012 will be the year of Global Insurrection, 2011 was just a preparedness exercise for when SHTF, SOPA might effectively kill much of the internet, which might further the motivations of the masses to generate lasting upheaval, the price of Gold & Silver will continue to rise along with the prices of most other commodities. DARPA will have GIG online and the world will enter into an accellerated pace of information exchange.

More Wikileaks, more cyber attacks by Anonymous, more Occupations by Occupy and more dissent from people like you and me, 2012 is going to be a very interesting year.....I am personally more worried about what is going to happen in 2013.

Thank you for posting this, it made me laugh.
But, he could have just said that the Mayan's made 21 December 2012 is simply the day that is the end of that (our current) calendar cycle and that the calendar indeed, does go on.

I think the first sentence sums it up really.
It is not to be interpreted as a literal ending of the world, just - as has been sending - the end of the this world as we know it to be.
In other words, great changes.

Things are constantly misconstrued incorrectly. A lot of such historical writings are not to be taken literally. They often serve better as a metaphor. Or a guide, even.

in islam, only God knows when the world ends. even the prophet didn't know when the world is going to end. there are going to be signs that the world will end, like the sun will rise from the west, girl:guy ratio will be 50:1, many good people will die, etc.

i don't believe that the end is coming this soon. why do we have to believe the mayans? they're humans, they're not that smart to predict the world is going to end. remember when someone said the world is going to end on 1999? yeah. don't think so.

don't worry to much. just live your life already. we'll die sooner or later anyway.

with that logic, why should we believe Islam? when it was invented by desert dwelling people over 1000 years ago.

I know one thing, the world itself is going to be around longer than any religion, including yours. Humanity as a species will likely cease existing before the planet does, no matter how much damage our species might inflict on it.

There has been more than one mass extinction in our planets past.

The Mayan Calender is merely entering in to a new phase, so long as people refuse to acknowledge these astrological occurances they will forever be unwillingly subjected to different cosmic energy without ever understanding how or why.

About the Mayan thing, don't worry. For ancient Mayans it was a celebration to make it to the end of a cycle. So no terror, but one big party! Hehe. :) + The only thing they could do is estimate and give descriptions, and not facts.
Another theory is poleshifting.
The geographical poles (so the Northpole and Southpole as we know them) will shift. This is unlikely because it takes about 26.000 years to rotate. And to achieve all that on one day, you will need immense amounts of energy. That could only happen if the Earth would clash with something ENORMOUS. The magnetic poles could shift too. And that's probably the most likely theory. The poles constantly change. And with constantly I mean 1200-7000 years. This doesn't really affect anything to the Earths rotation. Only the magnetic field will become weaker so we will be vurnabler for solar storms. Tough this couldn't take a catastrophic turn.
And so on.
Don't trust anything you read or hear in the media. Just do some research about it.
It IS a fact that one day the Earth will be unlivable. BUT the Earth doesn't destruct itself. The organisms on the earth do. Only we can do something that destructive that even a onecellular kind can't live here anymore cause of pollution or war or something like that. Also comets, the sun etc. play a role in this, but probably not on 2012.

The pole shift is very likely as it actually has been progressively happening over time.....most recently shifting at a rate of about 55-60 km per year. It actually shifted over 1000 km in the 20th century, but at a much slower rate than it presently is shifting at.

We already have had intensive solar flares, but haven't felt the brunt of them due to the protective nature of our atmosphere. Electrical devices and anything that is plugged in or operating off of wireless waves might have their circuitry and inner components fried because most devices and appliances are not intended to channel signals beyond a certain voltage/wattage/ohm level. It might be a good idea to have a laptop stashed away, unplugged with its battery removed and any cherished devices(not televisions, fucking leave them plugged in).....December 21, 2012 will either be the day I party to my heart, mind and bodies content....or the day in which I take apart my amplifiers, record players, effects pedals, computers, and recording devices apart just for lulz.....it is probably going to be the one day of the year in which I wouldn't go on the internet.

Yup. I see how an X-classed solar flare can make the whole economy shut down and set the whole world in turmoil. But this can happen anytime. Tough our ancestors had many knowledge about the skies, I don't think they knew THAT much to exactly date when there will come a destructive solar flare. :P
Kinda funny, how dependant we are on computers and high-tech stuff. :)

And I watched the video. What's up 'bout it?

And with all respect for religious people, but just stop using God as an explenation for death, birth, illness... That's just simplistic. Those religious books are just rules for a way of living, an excuse to explain something we can't. What do you think is easier to explain? Nothing that expanded to what we know now as the universe? Or a being that created everything in 7 days?

If the world is destroyed by either a solar flare, shifting of the poles, or naburu, we will all be dead in an instant. If it happens, it happens. For now, I am more concerned with the world "as we know it" ending. Economic collapse, NWO, the dollar collapsing, riots, people going crazy, hyper inflation, the end of posse comitatus, WW3, the energy grid being destroyed by a solar flare, and so on. I always keep it in the back of my mind that something catastrophic can be possible, but always think of what is even more possible: civilization totally collapsing. Do not be ignorant, living in your bubble will not save you. Be prepared for ANYTHING, even if nothing happens. It is better to have it and not need it, then to not have it and need it. You can't call something a conspiracy theory if nothing has happened yet!

Be very wary of barbarian peoples from the north & south of your borders....empire building always proves fatalistic whenever a nation extends too much beyond its natural borders.

Not sure if you will be reading this or the drugs your on will be, but anyways you should be wary of the 'hatred of america' dribble you manage to force out of your self induced haze. You may have a couple people on your side but for every one you have there are a million against you.
As for the end of the world nonsense, well I don't mind waiting a little time to prove a point.
But I hope when January 1, 2013 rolls around your not too devastated. Best Wishes -Chris

Honestly.....all America needs to do to have enemies, is exist....I am not going to need to prove any of my points as the United States already has experienced a corporotized, fascist take over.....with the U.S. homeland being declared a war zone and combat site; the Pentagon is likely very pleased at having a new 'laboratory' to test out new bio & chemical weapons on the unwitting populace who support their enslavement by paying taxes that they legally are not required to pay while utilizing a currency system completely built up off of debt.....every single U.S. dollar is representative of the money that the U.S. Treasury Department owes the Federal Reserve Bank.....China owns 12% of U.S. "Debt", Saudi Arabia owns 8% of U.S. "Debt"....how much of that 'debt' do you & your associates own? Chances are...due to the nature of inflation, not a single whole percentage of it....its not you're fault, the system has been constructed to collapse...it is like a game of musical chairs.

To be honest, I am not expecting anyone to not be devastated by 2013, myself included. I am just trying to warn people of what some of the potential possible outcomes for our species will be if we continue to use this ridiculously short sighted economic system.

I don't think we're smart enough to predict the end of the world, so I don't believe it will end in 2012. I mean, last year I was handed out a pamphlet by some crazies from the baptist church telling me the world would end on may 21. And, well, we're still alive. Would be funny if it ended in a zombie apocalypse though.
