well, I really am desperate for advice, I have reallt bad acne on mi chin area and I have for a while, these few days everybody's been commenting about it and I honestlym feel like my self steem has hit rock bottom, I just feel, ugly, and I've tried many products from l'oreal and Ponds and Dove but nothing seems to get rid of it for good.
I really really wpuld apreciate some advice on how to get rid of pimples, like, homemade remedies or well effective brands, not commercial ones, effective is the key word
That's the main reason I haven't posted any looks here, I just don't want to depend on photoshop plus I have no self esteem at all and I want help badly, so, please? :)

Do you touch or rest your hands on your face/chin? That can be the main problem. Usually when you start to use a new product it takes months before you see results. So switching products frequently just because results haven't been quick is a no-no.

I'd recommend 10% Benzoyl Peroxide. It has been a miracle for many.

I'd guess it's clogged facial hair follicles, use a bar of castile soap, and also i'd reccomend using aftershave (Thayer's brand with hazel is pretty widely available) castile soap is good because it doesnt dry out and crack the skin which is basically what causes the hair follicles to get infected and inflamed. do you notice peeling or anything after you shave? (I'm assuming you shave, here. if not I could be wrong)

This may not makes much sense but i really belive in it. What you do, it will show it on your face.
For some wierd reason i dont know why, it really is.
If you have pimple on;
Forehead: stress
Cheek: not enough sleep/ irregular sleeping
Chin/around the mouth: not eating well/ skipping meals

if you have not been eating well or skipping meals, maybe you can try getting proper meal or not skip your meal.

i know this wont help much, but just sharing coz i have kinda bad acne also.
all the best! :D

what i've found with acne is that the gentler the products, the better.
neutrogena products are really harsh, so don't use those.
look for as few ingredients in your products as possible.

First of all, I'm a cosmetician and I can tell you right now it's trial and error. L'Oreal, Ponds, Dove, they're all (or mostly) full of chemicals, fragrance, harsh sulfate chemicals, a lot of stuff that can be extremely irritating to the skin. I see you're from France, so here's a line that could really help you that I've studied a lot, it's called Avene, made in France so it's fairly accessible to you. I've seen it work miracles, it's about $20 for a bottle that lasts 5-8 months, which is really amazing. It's called the Avene Soapless Gel Cleanser. It's soooo incredibly gentle, for acne prone skin, it's worked wonders for me. Go check out that line, they have an entire acne care system.

try using castile soap, toning (you can use witch hazel or aqua velva or whatever aftershave, but i'd reccommend witch hazel) and moisturizing your face immediately by lightly patting a small amount of face lotion over your skin after toning. it may take your skin a little while to adjust, but it should clear up pretty quick. also try not touching your face much during the day, and when getting out of the shower and whatnot, dry your face but patting with a towel lightly, never rubbing. it made a BIG difference in my skin (: Let me know how it goes :)

Aw you poor thing :( I've actually had this problem for a while now, and the thing that's helped me the most so far is using the Neutrogena "Wave" (the larger one that spins, je ne sais pas si vous l'avez en France) in the morning, along with a salicylic acid cleanser/exfoliator and using toner and oil free moisturizer (Neutrogena or Garnier) afterward. At night use a benzoyl peroxide cleanser and moisturize; if you feel a pimple about to emmerge, use a spot treatment. Sulphur also helps quite a bit. Well I hope this helps, I know how you feel. And only do this if your skin is not very sensitive. Many people are allergic to benzoyl peroxide.

TEA TREE OIL! It's an all natural anti-microbial. It's worked for everyone I've suggested it to. You only need a little (a drop or two) once or twice a day. It's strong so if you have sensitive skin, you can dilute it in a little H2O.
Also good for black heads :}

go see a DERM! they will be able to identify what kind you have and the best way to treat it.
start trying things like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide for now and make sure you check the medicinal ingredients so you don't end up buying multiple products that use the same things.

I sdon't know if in france we have it but I'll look for it here (I'm currently in venezuela, and I'll be for the next 3 months) and I'll purchase salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, since they've been recomended a lot, also a moisturizer, and thank you :), I specially like getting advice from people who've had this rpoblem, because you may have had this experience before.

If you wear makeup, then taking a day off of wearing no makeup helps. I sometimes use a facial spray which calms my skin and I down. Also, hardly be stressed, it's the worst for your skin. I also heard cutting back on dairy can help too.

Oh honey! Well here is some tips!
No.1 - People who battle with acne on the chin/bottom of the face is usually caused from bacteria off of the hands, do you find yourself ever resting your face in your hands, or touching that area of the face without thinking? DON'T DO IT - The bacteria increases pore size and increase in acne.
No.2 - Use an exfoliator twice a day, morning and night and after exfoliating use a cleanser (I use clean and clear and I've seen a remarkable difference).
No.3 - Fruit and veg, for the time being cut out all crap e.g chocolate, fast food, anything fatty - just to see whether the diet is contributing
No.4 - Drink 10 glasses of water a day - keep the skin hydrated
No.5 - If all else fails - I work for a cosmetic surgery clinic and we do a treatment for acne called N-Lite, it's a laser treatment for the skin to stop acne from reappearing, results are very good, I myself have had the treatment on my back....hope this all helps lovely

Eat less dairy products. This really helped for me. Everytime I eat something with a lot of dairy in it I notice my skin is getting bad, especially around the mouth and chin. I do like yoghurt and goatcheese but I just make sure not to have big amounts and not every day.

Something that is working for me is the Liz Earle cleanse, tone and moisturiser. It's not tested on animals, the cleanser is a really rich, creamy lotion that you massage into your skin, and then rub it off with the muslin cloth that comes with it. The toner and moisturiser are really, really delicious smelling, and they work wonders. You can also get a small roll-on spot on thing, which you roll over a particular spot when it's red, and it helps bring it down. They also do a face mask and a scrub which I use once a week, they really do work!

uk.lizearle.com/cleanse-tone-moisturise.html (the cleanse, tone and moisteriser)
uk.lizearle.com/exfoliators-and-masks.html (the scrubs and masks)
I hope this helps!

Had the same problem (well dealing with it, but I've cleared up really well in the last couple weeks)...what I find is just keeping it simple works best. Washing face with soap once a day. Exfoliate every 3 days or so. Any it's REALLY important that after you've had a bath or a shower splash cold water on your face immediately so you don't lose any natural oils in your face - it'll mess up your skins chemistry. Drink loads of water. Keep it simple and your skin will sort out itself :)

I'm afraid I can't help you with removing the acne.

I suffer from dermatillomania so I often have bad skin and I found this amazing video on using make up to hide blemishes. It is insane how good it is- I have never seen anything like it!

I'm not sure if you wear make up since you're a guy but it's worth checking out anyway.

99.9% Aloe Vera gel! I swear by this stuff it's amazing! I used to have really bad acne, and tried everything to get rid of it and nothing worked, then i found this! I only use it at night as you can't really put make up on over it.
You can get it from Holland & Barratt or just ebay it :)
When i first used it i was a bit sceptical, and when i put it on it did sting like hell, but it was so worth it! It took about 2 months for me to notice a difference but my skin just got better and better, it calms your acne down and helps your skin to recover and help get rid of scars :)

I've been using it now religiously for 4 years and my skin is almost perfect! :)

My best advice is to not stress out about it..I got acne in the same place and my dermatologist said it was from the stress of actually getting them (oh the irony)! Also, you may have sensitive skin (which I do as well). Chemicals in many cleansers actually dry your skin, and make it wayyyyyy worse. Here's how I cleared up my acne (I havent broken out in months since I began this!)

I use cetaphil (in the bar)..its for sensitive skin, isn't drying, and still contains a little antibacterial for the face
Wash your pillowcase every other night with a fragrance free detergent!! this is a big pain in the butt, but I swear by it. Your face releases a lot of oil at night and if you don't wash it, youre just sleeping on oils.
Moisturize at night. Drying out causes acne.
and an obvious do notttt touch the pimples, your face, or try to pop them. Don't cover them up with gobs of makeup, this only makes them red and irritated.

I know it's a pain but tender care like this, along with a balanced die (lots of veggies, fish, etc) will really show a difference. Hope it works out for you dear, I know it can be a confidence killer! Youll make it through <3

Every week I make my own facial and it really helps and also makes my skin feel soft.

You'll need a couple tablets of aspirin, a bit of water (to dissolve the aspirin) and honey. You crush the aspirin, dissolve it a tiny (tiny) bit of water and add some honey to thicken it up. Leave it on for 10 minutes then wash it off. It works well for me. :)

If I have a big problem spot, I'll put a bit of white tooth paste on it before I go to bed and that helps it go down a bit.

If you haven't tried acne.org and their products I definitely recommend them.

The site has detailed instructions on exactly how to use the products plus a big community of people that share their experiences.

It's what I'm using now and it's almost completely cleared up my skin and I had moderate to severe acne.

They only sell one cleanser, treatment, and moisturizer so you don't have to be intimidated by a bunch of different choices.

And if you don't want or like the acne.org products they actually give a bunch of recommendations that work just as well.

Clay masks! It's the only thing that's worked for me. I use a green one every night and leave it on for about an hour. At the start I noticed the acne got a bit worse, but that's only because your skin is adjusting and letting all the toxins out. Stick though that short period and afterwards you look fantastic! :)

Turmeric is a spice known to help acne, redness, and other skin aliments if directly put on the skin.

Indians make a mask of turmeric, chickpea powder, and water or milk to help with acne.

Read my article about it here:
agypsyscollection.blogspot.com/2011/12/turmeric-diy-facial-mask.html

The turmeric is anti-bacterial so it will help with taking away the bacteria that cause the acne. This spice topically put on skin and ingested helped me a lot with making my skin more healthy and less acne prone. It also helps with a lot of other aliments as well.

Goodluck!

None of the acne products work. If you really want to get rid of acne, try excessively sweating a lot, do sauna, exercise, and drink lots of water. It really make your skin better quicker. Do it for awhile and you'll be free of acne:-)

There are a few things you could do and some great advice given by fellow lookbookers before me..

Changing your pillowcase is easy and will definitely help immediately. Sleep on one side, flip it over for the next night and then change!
Get advice from a derm/GP to determine what kind of acne you have.
Then the obvious ones are have a balanced diet - a little bit of everything in moderation will be perfect.
Drink a lot of water :)
Other things you could do is make a smoothie/juice daily or whenever you can.. You could also add things like special powders eg. spirulina - good for skin. Def check out juicing and smoothies....
Exercise is a huge factor.. If you go to the gym, head into the steam room and sauna after.. It's fantastic. :)

It's been scientifically proven stress & an oily diet has no direct effect to the cause of acne.

My advice would be -

- Drink a minimum of 1.5 litres of water a day.
- Wash your face twice a day; Once in the morning, and once in the evening (Washing your face excessively may actually cause your pimples to flare up). Wash your face gently with your hands (make sure they're clean) or a paper towel.
- Sleep a minimum of 8 hours per night; Your body fights acne bacteria during sleep.
- Avoid touching your face throughout the day to prevent further inflammation of the skin.
- Change your pillowcases at least twice a week. Your face releases a lot of oil during sleep, and it's important to keep them clean.
- Try different acne fighting products, everyone's skin reacts differently to different products. I've found products with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide (maximum strength without prescription) works most effective.

Hope it helps!

I absolutely believe that what you eat can really affect acne. I had horrible acne all over my chin and face until I decided to cut all dairy from my diet. It has been over 3 years and my face has been so great.

I recently started using ground up oatmeal to exfoliate and cleanse my face (super cheap!) and I use pure almond oil (vitamin E) for moisturizer and my skin has been so soft and bright.
