I'm from the US, and I'm sure you already listen to a lot of American music. But, there are two great artists from my own little state, Maine. A band called Crunk Witch and a rapper called Spose. I love them both!

Agnes Monica. she's a very hardworking recording artist and she is really trying to go international. she was runner up for EMA's best asia pasific thingy, lost to Big Bang (korea).
Anggun. she recorded this in france and she was on tour with bon jovi, i guess. she beat beyonce in AOL's best world diva thing.

Seriously, all the artists you guys sent me are amazing! I got a lot of new music to listen to, I am so happy :) I suggest to everybody to check the bands the other people wrote about! I will suggest now some italian bands:
Le Luci della Centrale Elettrica, one of my favourite bands youtube.com/watch?v=Z8HzwcbeGFE
L'Officina della Camomilla is one of the best indipendent bands from Milan I've ever heard, I wish you could understand the lyrics youtube.com/watch?v=S0WFRIF7CcM
Meduse is an all-girls-band, they play alternative rock and they're an indipendent band form Milan too (and I'm they're singer, ahahha) youtube.com/watch?v=S3uNROdex0M

Hahahahhaha....Theresa, the singer from Mares of Thrace gave me a hug at a show when she found out I was mastermind of le' Bunny Cunts...the summary of our previous contacts being from hearing each others songs and giving each other 'hoof to paw' high fives.....they are a talented duo.....and musically are only generating more momentum.
Mahogany Frog actually formed here in S'toon but moved to Winnipeg as often the only way (306) artists can develop is by moving away.

I am from the Czech Republic. The music scene in my country isn't very well I think but you can find some good performers. I like Tereza Kerndlová (try this: youtube.com/watch?v=Sgjty6CTlRc&ob=av2n) and Kryštof (it's a band) (try this: youtube.com/watch?v=gtz3AMPp7UM&ob=av2n). I'll be happy if you'll write me your opinion about these songs on my formspring (formspring.me/annaadvert) :)

That's great you're interested in French music since I am, thus I'm in a better position to advise you.
I love Camille, Jeanne Cherhal, Claire Diterzi, Indochine, Clarika... etc
I'm sure you would also like Pamela Hute, they sing in English but are french.

I'm from England and most of my favourite bands are Welsh or American so this is quite difficult.
I recommend Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer. He is IMMENSE.
From my hometown:
The Members (Their song "Sound of the Suburbs" was written in 1979 and is about growing up in my town. It's amazing how nothing has changed in over 30 years).
Hundred Reasons
I haven't listened to either of those two massively though.

From Germany it's difficult because a lot of the magic of german music depends on the lyrics. But I'm addicted to lyrics 'cause I really like them. That's one of the reasons why I study german philology.
I can recommend Hund am Strand, Madsen (insead it's really simple music), DIe Ärzte, Die Toten Hosen, Wir sind Helden, Mia, Frida Gold, Miss Platnum, Seed, Peter Fox, Jennifer Rostock ....
There are so many great bands

Hey, I'm from Ireland :D
i'd recommend Ryan Sheridan who is absolutely amazing live. He used to busk in Grafton street. Here's a link
The video almost doesn't do him justice, live he manages to fill the air with so much souuul. you don't get that often these days.
youtube.com/watch?v=4OMD9iJ5cHQ&feature=relmfu
enjoy :)
his christmas song cover of 'Walking in the Air' is gorgeous. go look it up!
