I'm writing this graduation essay for school and I was just wondering what you guys thought about plastic surgery. Is it a yay or a nay?

I can't really say I hate it because I'm obsessed with body modifications (piercings, tattoos). So, I hate being a hypocrite. If the person who pursues it is happy, then who cares? Unless its where a person is never happy with the outcome and spends every penny on it, and all that nonsense.

* You can argue that it is a personal choice: I mean If it makes you feel happy then why not. Every one has a freedom to do whatever they want to do..... Some people chose to do plastic surgery while other chose not to shave their pubic hair(just an example).
*On the other hand you can argue that doing plastic surgery is a way of showing low self esteem... because he/she is not comfortable with their physical appearance. Again contradictory to that, plastic surgery can make a person have a higher self esteem because they feel more comfortable with their appearance.
**If a person has the money to afford plastic surgery then why not? if on the other hand they can not afford it and go into illegal activites to save money then it becomes a problem. . .
**doing plastic surgery for ones self is completely different from doing it for the rest of the world. I mean it is dangerous to an extent but if a person got into a car accident and needed it then why not.
**i dont know if im making anysense but if you need more help let me know.... i write ALOT of essays as i am a political science student :)

I'm for it. if I want to get work done one day I will. I've already permanantly altered my body in other ways with piercings and hair removal so I don't think its completely out of the question for me. I know a few people that have gotten different types of plastic surgeries, some I thought were an improvement some I didn't. some peoples lives were drastically changed by it, some weren't. its a very individual thing but I think if someone is, for lack of a better word, sane and wants to do something that they think will improve their life why shouldn't they?

Honestly I hate the idea, if you want to change your appearance then learn how to use makeup correctly (by that I mean makeup that suits you and learn how to apply it well). But I think there are a few accept-ions, there are people who depressed about the way they look and it doesn't matter what people say they still feel down about their appearance, i think only in these situations should people start to seek surgery.

I've considered it in the past, but came to the conclusion that surgically altering my appearance would be an inferior alternative to learning to truly love myself. To each their own, though.

i'm pretty neutral on the subject. i personally haven't consider any drastic plastic surgery myself. Although i do admit that i've dreamed of having plumper lips my whole life, so i would seriously consider trying injections if i had the extra money someday. i don't agree with people who drastically change their appearance through plastic surgery like Heidi Montag, but a little nip and tuck here and there doesn't really bother me unless i hear the person constantly talking about it! My mom had a few things done, but VERY few of her friends and family know about it. Then there is my manager who won't shut up about her botox wearing out and how expensive it will be because she has to get more next trip...blahblahblah

I am against it.
I think changing your body is being unthankful for the life you have. We are all built the way we ought to look like. it's not natural to change this. I also think there are no "unpretty" parts of a body. If you have small boobs - well at least you fit into every dress! you look old? well then you ARE old, or you have lived a very fast life so you are old inside.
Everything happens as you make it happen, you always look like the life you've lived until now! I think changing the body for money is not right.

To each their own.
If you're unhappy and have tried everything to change how you look without cosmetic surgery, then go for it. We all deserve happiness and if getting a form of surgery pleases them, then so be it.

I would need to feel really unhappy about my looks to undergo plastic surgery, not because I'm against changing your looks to feel better (we all do when we use make up or cut our hair or try to lose weight) but because it is surgery we are talking about, and there is always some degree of risk in a surgery.

I think everyone once in a while wants to go get themselves fixed their "flaws", but I've always had this "natural is best"-thing. Actually I think it's kind of stupid to fix yourself in that way. We are all different, and we should all be happy the way we were born. Everyone have complexes (at least I know I have), and I don't think anyone should get rid of them by plastic surgery! But I also understand and respect those who have gotten plastic surgery, cus if plastic surgery makes you happy, then go make yourself happy, but think really trough it before you change your looks permanent. I see the fact that we all "change" ourselves to be happy and get higher self-esteem, but this is plastic surgery! You can remove your make-up, but you can't remove your surgery. But to those who likes plastic surgery, there's limits of how much botox or silicone you should inject! (both for health and looks)

Well, I'm not too fond of it. But of course if people really just don't manage to accept themselves and surgery is the last way out i'd respect that. Also i totaly understand those who does it after accidents or diseases that had affect on their looks.

I love it. If you want to change something about your body, just go ahead and do it. I mean, what's the point in being unhappy when you could be happy? (:

if it is seriously affecting my life then yes, like if i was born with extra meat around my nostrils which made it hard for me to breathe, id get plastic surgery.
To make my self "prettier"- No, you should learn to live with what you already have. No amount of plastic surgery can boost your self esteem, thats something u have to learn to do

What I think..? Hmm. I'm more against, but on the other hand I think that if You don't like some part of Your body (I don't talk about small boobs or something) and You feel uncomfortable, You should use it. Because if You nervous and thinking about all the time... It's not good at all.

If you do plastic surgery for health reasons, okay.
If it's only for appearance, beauty and perfection I think it's stupid, it means you don't accept yourself the way you are.
And if it goes wrong, you'll look screwed up for all your life.

I think that, in moderation, it can really improve someones looks. I mean if you have little boobs and you want them bigger, whats wrong with that?? But...when people do a complete overhaul of their looks, it gets messy.

I think if it's something that really makes you unhappy and there's a chance it could make you happy then I would say yes, go for it. I know if there was something about my appearance that made my life completely miserable that I wasn't able to hide with some clever make-up (like having a gigantic nose or something) then yes I would consider plastic surgery.
There are people that take it way too far though and end up completely ruining their looks when they were already quite pretty to begin with for example Katy Price AKA Jordan
images.mirror.co.uk/upl/m4/oct2009/1/1/katie-price-composite-104904835.jpg
And now she's admitted that having so much surgery is ruining her life.
