Wow... I don't know if the people above are still in high school, but I was probably a freshman or a sophomore... so I must have been around 15-16 years old when I got mine.

I think I got my first phone for my fifteenth birthday. Before that, my mom would just lend me her phone.
It's weird thinking about how I didn't have one before that.

I was 8 yrs old, the fist mobile phone i received "Nokia 3310" and i play space impact all the time =))

I was 11 and it was early 2000.
It was this very funky phone:
There was some sort of promotion with Coca Cola where you collected enough tokens and you got it for £30 or something. It came with this stylish Coca Cola fascia and a banging Coca Cola ringtone.
I thought it was the bee's knees.
Interestingly, you can read reviews of it here from when it was released and people have very low expectations of a mobile. "When someone phones you up, you can choose what tune you want your phone to make", "It's very light and small" and "you can get flashy ariels for a few quid" are my personal highlights. Kids today don't know how lucky they are...

However old people are in 7th grade? That was when I got mine.
I went on a trip to Boston with my grade. Mum didn't want to get me through the hotel, so my parents gave me a cell so they could check in with me every once and a while. I didn't want it, haha. I hated phones (I still do).
Which is funny, because most people I know now have cell phones at really young ages / can't leave them alone.

11 or 12 I think? I somehow managed to make almost a thousand dollar phone bill in the first month. Definitely a huge mistake.

Absolutely nuts, I know! I was 11 and I was told by the man at the store that "everything was free for the first month." Which I understood as games and ringtones that were for sale as well. You can imagine how things got out of control..
Don't give cell phones to children.

I was in 7th grade. My parents wanted to wait longer, but that was the year I started playing softball, and they wanted me to be able to call if practice was cancelled or went long or whatever.

I wanted one before then but my mother made me wait until I was 13 and even then she was hesitant.
I just tried to find my first phone on google and it's like impossible. I just remember it flipped, had a black and white unlit screen, and only played ringtones that vaguely sounded like songs.

nah... my boyfriend's also had 5 phones in the past two and a half years... he's a bit of a tech junkie, so whenever some cool, new phone comes out, he'll switch.

I was about 11 or so I think. I begged my mum to give me her old Nokia brick, because other girls in my year claimed to have a mobile and I wanted to fit in! Haha I had that until half-way through year 7 I think.

at 16 i started carrying around my mum's tata indicom(like a block of wood)..then i got my own at 17..nokia 3110c..i still have it though i use an lg cookie which sucks.
