I Just recently stumbled upon an article about a guy burying a pair of "worn in" dry wash Edwin jeans in his backyard for about 3 months.
When he dug them up those 3 months later the jeans looked totally different (and uniqe,) a result that i would very much like to try and copy.
My question now is: does any of you gus have experience with burying your jeans? And if so, how long would a pair of already mashinewased dry wash nudie jeans (don't judge me, i basically got them for free at a thrift store and they were already washed.) have to lie in the dirt, to get similar results...is it even possible at this point? (as mentioned the jeans were cheap as hell so i don't care if they get ruined, but i like the idea of burrying them way better than of just bleaching)
If you want to read the article yourself, here´s a link: denimhunter.dk/blog/news/edwined55buried
-p.s. sorry for any misspellings.

Wow, I can certainly say I've never seen that before!
I clearly have never experienced burying jeans, but I think you might want to stick to bleaching, or find some other alternative to distressing your jeans if you don't want to use bleach. It seems pretty unsanitary to start off with, even after washing them in the showr, because the holes are clear indication that while those jeans were in the ground, there was some kind of creature or bacteria eating away at the pants.
The holes in the crotch make it kind of awkward, and though the other ones aren't bad - it is possible make your own distressed holes with a switchblade or a very sharp potato peeler (there are tutorials all over Youtube).

Wow, never heard of this before!
It totally is a cool idea, but i'd rather stick to bleaching or just rip them by myself so i can decide where my holes are going to be. Still love the idea though!

i've read about a buried dress by hussein chalayan but never of jeans. i guess this goes to show that the effect is pretty much the same with most textiles.
seems like a good ides if you want to try it out. i would be wary of getting holes in places you don't want (like in the link you provided, the jeans have gaping holes near the crotch) though.

Something was definitely eating at the crotch of those pants.
No me gusta.

I think it's really cool. It has more character than just some holes being added with a cheese grater.
But I don't plan on trying it anytime soon.

I'm sorry but that's nasty and I would not be attracted to a guy who walked around with holes in his crotch! Talk about tacky!

That creeps me out too. Things were eating away at his jeans.

I'd do it if it won't make any holes in my crotch/butt area

I actually burried them about a week ago...I'm not going to leave them for as long as the guy in the article (just about 2 months.) In case im satisfied with the results I'll definately post a picture of them as part of a look. But for now, I can only wait......oh, and don't worry I'm not going to wear them if I get the same holes in my crotch area as the guy in the article (=

I think this sounds really interesting! Also it would be a pretty big coincidence if your jeans also came out with holes in the crotch, but who knows.
Let us know how they turn out!

What an interesting concept - I like it! I'm not much of a jean wearer and I don't think it's something I'd personally want to try, but it seems like a fun project. Just not so wearable afterwards!
Do share your results! Hopefully without holes in the crotch area!

That's pretty cool. But I wouldn't wear em while rinsing the dirt out haha... just stick em in a hot wash and then tumble dry. Kill off those nasties.
