I have tried a few things, but does anyone have any tips to getting some volumized and longer hair?

I have a medium length, about to the top-middle of my back. Normally it's very full and has a lot of volume, but recently, not so much.

Any advice would help me so much. :)

maybe your hair is too long. having too long hair drags it down and that's why a trim every so often is recommended to manage the length and to remove the dried out ends.

I don't use conditioner on the roots of my hair as it tends to make it more flat. I'm also an advocate of using a little mouse on the roots and blow drying upside down. That's how I got the volume in this look.

I do also tease from time to time. If my hair feels flat then I'll create the illusion of volume by lightly teasing the front of my hair and pinning sections back loosely, as in this look.

As for getting longer hair, you just have to be patient really. Minimise unnecessary hair cuts by using a protective serum on the lengths of your hair and trim the ends yourself every few weeks by twisting sections until the ends splay out, then getting them with a small pair of sharp scissors (this was the advice my hair dresser gave me when I said I was going to university and wanted to a) grow my hair, and b) cut down on trips to the salon). That way you can avoid professional trims and putting your hair at the mercy of scissor-happy hair dressers.

I second the upside down blow drying for volume.

And same as what megan said, be patient if you want it longer. Don't straighten it or colour it too much (don't do it at all if possible) and wear protective styles like braids, buns, etc. My hair was an inch long a year ago and I've managed to grow it toa lirrlw past. My shoulders by now doing these things. (Though I colour, I don't bleach or use permanent colours)

@Clove B.

I second what Clove said about hair dye. I dye mine monthly but compensate with weekly intensive conditioning treatments and would never touch bleach.

I also only use straighteners and curling tongs on special occasions. It's taken three years to grow my hair from just below shoulder length to an inch above my navel.

@Clove B.

I have tried the upside down blow drying, it does help some, but my hair eventually weighs down a bit.

I've been told Biotin works. I went and bought some. Hopefully it will work.

Pretty much everything I would have suggested has already been mentioned here, but what I sometimes do is let my hair dry naturally overnight tied up in a loose topknot high up on my head. It may look ridiculous at the time, but when you take it down, it's usually lovely and voluminous. Hairspray it while it's still tied up, if you really want it to last. (:

Cinnamon Leaf oil which stimulates your follicles and encourage healthy hair growth and just going to bed with messy hair normally gives me the volume I need.
