Personally I prefer tumblr to blogger now. Mostly in the sense that things can be reblogged and shared and really get around to people. When I was on blogger I got barely any response.. then I hopped on tumblr and got things reblogged thousands of times. My top reblog is up to 30,000 and growing everyday! Other tips:

-Make sure when you set your blog up to buy a .com if you want to be really serious. It just looks better over all. I actually need to get mine really soon here. But it's pretty cheap... only about 10 per mo. and a yearly fee as well.

-Make sure to use google analytics to check your traffic and see how many unique visitors your getting, how long they spend on there, and your total views. Pay good attention to your traffic and if it isn't doing well.. test out different blogging techniques and methods until you get good peer response.

-People tend to respond most to images.. so be sure to take lots of pictures.. even if they aren't fashion related. As long as they catch peoples interest they'll want to read!

-Make sure to be a grammar nazi... if you misspell things go back and edit your mistakes.. or save all your posts as drafts then re-read them and make sure you're punctuation is fluid and everything you said makes sense and sounds good to read.

-Make things look good. Most people don't want to stare at poor quality pictures... if you can't afford a great camera.. there are plenty of point and shoots that have great quality and are worth saving for! Utilize programs like photoshop if you can (but don't over edit) Just touch things up so theyre pleasant and clear. If you make collages make sure to do things neatly and simplicity is always key. people don't need a bunch of souped up images to enjoy what theyre looking at. Let the clothing or style speak for itself! And don't forget your blog layout. Simplicity like I said is key. Make it user friendly in it's interface.. so it's easy for people to navigate. Don't rape it with banners and affiliate offers. Make a seperate page on your blog if you must. Plus most affiliate programs sort of degrade the integrity of you as a blogger.. so dont get involved with just anyone!Think of a simple logo that defines what your blog name is and what it stands for. If you don't know html or css to do the designing.. simply google and you can learn a lot of it online. It's very self explanatory. I learned front end CSS in one day flat and was making websites the very same day! And not just makeshift ones.. but nice ones with everything custom. Anyone can do it with enough practice.

-On that last note be wise in your choices of you who collaborate with! Especially when it comes to them advertising on your blog or wanting their products advertised through you. Be choosy about who you work with because it defines you as a blogger. Pick things that pertain to you.. and don't just give away your precious traffic to anyone. Remember... if you have a decent follower base these people know you're valuable.. don't let them take advantage of you just because you want free stuff or some mention on their own blogs. Make sure everything is fair and you are compensated properly. Always be on the lookout for smaller brands that want to sneak in and use you as a traffic source. Make sure if you agree that you're getting the fair end of the deal!

-Engage your readers. If someone asks you a question or gives you a compliment... post a repsonse! People want to feel like your paying attention and engaging them in their thoughts and curiousities. Don't be afraid to get in touch with anonymous readers as well as other bloggers. Especially if your looking for opportunities to get yourself out into the community by guest posting or doing interviews etc.

-Be clever about your post choices. Don't just post an image and put one sentence.. sometimes thats good... but usually at least 3 sentences to 4 is my rule of thumb. It keeps people reading and makes them realize you have a brain and you actually have thoughts and opinions and aren't just staring at things you think are pretty. Comment on the things you see.. what did you like? What didn't you like? And don't be afraid to end your posts with questions for you readers. It's another way to get them engaged!

-Organize and catalog everything efficiently. On tumblr you can do it with their tag system and then provide links to all your categorized tags. On blogger and wordpress it's a litte more difficult but you can do the same thing. People want to be able to see you progess.. and what you've done in the past.. not just what your page is now. Even if at first your posts aren't aamazing people will respect being able to see your progress as a blogger and realize that you worked hard to get to the point where you end up.

I know it seems like a lot but once you get the swing of things all these things will come so naturally to you it'll be like clockwork. I really hope this helps you on your blogging journey!

i use blogger and tumblr.

my blogger blog is more of my professional, structure blog where i use a running theme for each post and only use for outfit posts - niftylittlenumber.blogspot.com/

my tumblr blog is more for personal photo, maybe of my home life, how i've done my nails that day, having a cuppa when i'm bored, promoting my ebay listings etc... - niftylittlenumber.tumblr.com/

personally, i like them both for their different qualities, it's just what you prefer, or just do what i did and make two!!

I use Blogger for my daily outfits, everyday style blog (xrebelangelx.blogspot.com/). It's an easy interface to use and keeps everything well organised. On the other hand, it doesn't have many templates. But I'm fine with that!
I also have Tumblr which I use for inspiration, although I've kind of abandoned that recently. It's good for exposure, but I feel like Blogger is more accepted in the fashion blogosphere.
I use Flickr for hosting my photos, and I've paid for the pro account because I think it's worth being able to have all your photos in one place where you can easily access and use them. It's only $25 for a year, but you can use it for up to 200 photos (I think!) for free if you want to try it =)
Hope this helps!!

Having a fashion blog is good because you can look back (in the future) and see how much you've progress and changed in your fashion liking!

Blogger is the easiest, and that's what I use. Write thoughtful comments on other blogs. Don't spam your link everywhere, it comes across as desperate. Make sure your pictures are clear and large enough not to have your audience straining there eyes. I prefer a simple layout myself, but that's purely subjective.

Make sure you show us when you're ready!
