Is it just me or does it seem like there are alot more fashionable European people than Americans? Not to say Americans aren't fashionable, just seems like we have a much lower amount of people who are. I live in Colorado, a state NOT known for it's good style so maybe i'm just not seeing it. Anyways, opinions?

If you want to see better dressed people in the USA you need to go to Manhattan. It's the only place I've noticed that even the homeless people have some style. In Europe everyone seems to dress well and dress their kids well. I'm speaking in general of course and only based on my personal experience.

I noticed this too. I went to Europe over winter break (I'm from the US), and I noticed that most everybody had a sense of style. At home, you don't see much of that.

America is just too much conservative, except for NYC, L.A., San Francisco and Las Vegas, of course! You just gotta go to the more liberal ruled areas to find good fashion in America!

If the majority of British people dress anything like the characters on Skins, then they're right in the same boat as America. Lol.
But seriously, you have to go to major metropolitan areas to see good fashion. LA, New York, Philadelphia, that's where the good dressers are. If you go to some bumblefuck town, of course people aren't gonna dress nicely but I feel like a lot of countries are like that.

I tend to think Europeans dress nicer as well, though I have only been to European cities, and only one countryside place. Most Americans tend to dress for function, as clove mentioned. Especially up here in NY state where it's cold and ....kind of redneck-y in places. But like any country, the style is in the cities. I like to think there are Americans who dress awesome despite the trends of Uggs, Crocs, and things
Ike Snuggies and Pajama Jeans. You just have to look for them ;)
But as a additional comment, no, leggings are not pants.

Yessss. I made a shirt that said leggings are not pants. I probably offend a lot of other girls here at school, but I mean someone had to tell them. Hahaha.

What about the Chicago love? No? Chicago has great style! Three cheers for the metropolitan midwest!
Generally though, I agree... Europeans do generally pay more attention to how they're dressed. But this could all be explained by the fact that you're more likely to be in, or next to, a super awesome and super large city in Europe, and all the great fashion happens in cities. Most of the population in the US is either suburban or not next to the large fashion capitals, so they're pretty out of the loop.
That said, although it's undoubtedly true that people dress better in Europe, I've noticed a lot more creative ways of dressing in America than I did when I lived in Paris. People dress a bit more uniquely I think. It may also be because the economy in the US is completely down the shit tank and nobody has a job, making thrifting pretty much a necessity wherever you are. :/

I live in a major city, Denver, and 95% of the people you see are just stoners in pajama bottoms and wife beaters. >.< I need to travel more it seems,

There's fashion here in America, you just have to get out of your state and travel to a more prominent one.
Though, I really do prefer Europe's sense of style. I adore England (I'm a complete Anglophile) and I try to be as daring as English women are, because they're known for their individual style and fearlessness.
Also, I really like Korean fashion, they tend to go for very classy, very wearable clothing.

German countyside isn't very stylish either. It's basically jeans, black boots, sweater, coat. Not to interesting.
Is way better in the city, even if it's only a relatively small one. But if I wanna see fashionable people, I hop over to Metz/France :)
