We had to read Lord of the Flies, loads of poetry, Othello and The Woman in White. They all sucked but then again where we HAD to read them I guess it made them seem worse than they were/ are.

I'm a little of a rebel and I told like being told what to do. So I didn't read any of these books unless it was in class. I've been out of high school for three years and I've bought most of these books so I could read them on my own time.
To Kill A Mockingbird-didn't read it
Romeo and Juliet- I really liked.
The Secret Life of Bees- don't remember anything about it
The Iliad-don't remember
Lord of the Flies-I liked the theme of the book.
Things Fall Apart-Don't remember
MacBeth-I LOVED.
Night-Don't remember
All Quiet on The Western Front-Don't remember
Their Eyes Were Watching God- really good
The Catcher In The Rye- don't remember
A Midnight Summer's Dream- Funny
The Canterbury Tales-don't remember
The Great Gatsby-LOVED
Into The Wild-don't remember too much
Smoke Signals (Short story)-don't remember

Macbeth - So easy, no layers, simple pimple
A chunk of Great expectations - didn't like it. Pip was a whiny little toe rag. I wanted to shoot him.
An Inspector calls - Very good in fact.
Next up is Lord of the Flies for Lit.

I remember just some of them, the obvious things like Romeo & Juliet, Greek myths, bits of Paradise Lost... boring as hell, if you ask me! The only book I remember liking was Master and Marguerite by Bulgakov, I read that in about three days (around 600 pages if I'm not mistaken), but I'm not sure if I'd go through it again.

Lets see, last year I had to read:
The Odyssey - This book had its good moments and sometimes I hated it. Also it's hella long...
Romeo and Juliet - I liked this, although difficult to understand at times.
Ethan Frome - I HATED THIS BOOK! Nothing happened, and I had to write this huge analytical essay on it. Worst book ever.
Oedipus the King - Meh. I'm not a huge fan of Greek theater. It was quite disturbing actually...
Alice's Adventures In Wonderland - You might be wondering why I read this for school. It was for an independant project, and this one was really fun! I liked it a lot. Very easy :)
East of Eden - Why oh why did I choose this book? It was 700 pages! I think it's probably a good book but I didn't read it (I used sparknotes....hehe) because it was so long! Yeah I feel pretty bad about this book.
The Glass Castle - This was a great book! Loved it!
This year I have to read:
House On Mango Street
Tale of Two Cities
The Bean Trees
Macbeth
Antigone
and I have to choose three independent books to read then do some sort of project with them.

so far:
much ado about nothing, the hobbit, greek myth stuff
romeo and juliet (ew cliché), lord of the flies, short story stuff,
this year: macbeth, the great gatbsy (had to google the latter because the only name that was coming up was "fitz's party book" um.), canadian author stuff
next year: iunno actually
personally I'd like to read more difficult stuff but eh. tis alright. I really wanted to do to kill a mockingbird last year, or even life of pi, but instead got lord of the flies. It's not a bad book, and some parts are delightfully horrible (:P) but otherwise I found it a bit boring, too much of a boy's book I suppose.
I remember reading to kill a mockingbird in grade 5 during recess, a teacher coming up to me like "you're reading THAT in class? we read that in grade 10!" then I said "no, it's just for fun" and she kind of gave me a weird look, haha. (:
ugh, wish we could've read the catcher in the rye last year too. D: I liked that book.

We did Journey's End for our English paper and Sherlock Holmes. The single two most boring books for a class of 16 year olds. It makes me mad that of all of the wonderful books out there that could have made our papers much more interesting to do...they pick dull stories that have no hope of inspiring people to appreciate English lit. Oh well...

I read the same old classic literature as everybody else, but my three favorites were Cut by Patricia McCormick, Oryx & Crake by Margaret Atwood, and The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.
