In 2007, Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, a so called artist, took an abandoned dog from the streets, tied him to a very short rope to a wall in an art gallery, and left a kettle of food on the other side of the room, beyond his reach, and left him there to slowly die of hunger and thirst.

The so-called artist of such cruelty and the visitors of the gallery of art watched the agony of this animal. The dog finally died of famine, surely after a painful, absurd and incomprehensible torture.

Now I wanna ask you: IS THIS REALLY ART?

i guess it's art but i cannot bring myself to even think of it...not even close. it's so inhumane.

art may be the only thing you can get away with but a living creature doesn't deserve this.

What is worse than this happening is that no one did anything about it. I would have found the artist and beat his ass.

would the artist be offended if i were to tie him up on a short rope with food across the room so people could watch him die? ofcourse it would all be in the name of art.

i think it's absolutely ridiculous that some of you are calling this "art".
tying a dog to a short rope leaving it to starve is most definitely not art.

absolutely fucking not. just stupid, morbid & ridiculous.

anything can cause emotions. talking to someone causes emotions & a reaction, is that also considered art? i'm sort of disgusted by the stupidity of the lot of you.

That is absolutely disgusting.
I've never heard of something as inhumane and twisted as this.
It is NOT art, art and cruelty do NOT mix and this makes me sick to the stomach.
Who is he to do this? Someone should do this to him and call it "art"
I'm so disgusted, I hate animal cruelty and it's people like this that make the world the sick, miserable and damaged place it is.

a dog was brought to near death in front of a crowd and exploited, well gee, i feel totally better about it now!
when will this be allowed on humans? children at that, since they've got about the same IQ as a dog...i mean orphans might just die on the street anyways too. art is art, right?

i'll respond if i please, i care about animals alot more than people sometimes...especially since they don't have the asshole demeanor most humans do. obviously the issue of whether the dog died or not wasn't the main worry, it was that it had to suffer. apparently some don't give a shit about other creature's lives...i don't know why you're trying to convince us this ISN'T wrong or awful, people are going to feel the way they feel. it just shows lack of compassion towards others. take that however you want, i just think when an animal can totally be helped, it should be...not toyed with for entertainment.

I'm genuinely amused by the amount of people that still posted about the dead dog after at least 15 posts saying he didn't die.

I don't necessarily think the artist was wrong. I mean the dog, if it was a stray, would have eventually starved to death on the street regardless if he used it in his exhibit or not. You see everyone making a big commotion about it because it was leashed to a wall and then used in an art exhibit, but you guys don't think a thing about a starving dog or cat you see in an alleyway.

Hm, so this thread is also on Lookbook? I remember reading about it on another site. Must get a lot of responses. Mostly the same ones about how it's "disgusting" and "wrong."

I agree with Joss. I just looked at the post and it was posted one year ago. I guess it's good for newbies to voice their opinion as well...maybe.

The title is a bit misleading, but I bet it makes a lot of people want to repsond. Curiosity kills the cat.

You guys.
The dog was fed and actually escaped within a day. The statement that it starved and the photo "evidence" were fabricated. The artist himself even signed the petition to ban the exhibition.

Old news is old, THE END.

this is art. the artist did this as a slap in the face to society.
well that's what I belive. yes it is indeed inhuman but he tried to make a point. this is what he wanted. all the different people to have there own remarks. and the dog got away . so let's pretend that the dog lived a happy life after that like you pretend that you could do something to stop all the famine.
man I really do feel sorry for this dog but the truth is the truth. sad as is.

a lot of things can be art.
i just don't think death or torture is art.
some people say the 9/11 is art.
but it's up to the viewer. some people find it art, some don't.
